Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

The Terminator TV series is finally upon us! According to tv.com:

The series picks up a year after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day with John and Sarah Connor (Thomas Dekker and Lena Headey) hiding from the government. After two years in one place Sarah decides they need a change of scenery and in doing so they expose themselves to FBI Agent James Ellison (Richard T. Jones) and Skynet's army of Terminators including Cameron Phillips (Summer Glau) a reprogrammed Terminator sent to protect John. She informs them that Judgment Day was not stopped and will take place in 2011. John convinces Sarah to stop hiding and fight so Cameron takes them to a time machine the resistance has set up to take them to the year Skynet was created 2007.

I've always been a fan of the Terminator franchise, ever since I saw Arnold tearin that police station a new one in the original so many years ago. I'm going to say that checking this out is, for me at least, an absolute must! The show has been getting good reviews so far so, fingers crossed!

If the score is small (extreme = 5) your musical preferences are very limited, and if it is large (larger than 80, extreme = 100), then you have an eclectic musical preference.... Modern Day Rasputin

Posted in by rob on Thu, 12/06/2007 - 06:01

Also known as the "Mad Monk", Rasputin was reportedly disemboweled, poisoned, shot, clubbed before being thrown into an icy river where he perished. Impressive as that may be, he had nothing on his modern day counterpart.

American motorcycle daredevil Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel, Jr. died recently (30-11-07) aged 69 from pulmonary fibrosis. While Evel had been battling illness for some time now, with his daredevil years long behind him, during his prime Evel had suffered a startling number of injuries and was even in the Guinness book of Records having had 40 broken bones at once.

Steve Mandich has compiled a page displaying the many posters examining the injuries of Evel Knievel.

Guitar Hero III For Mac Guitar Hero III For Mac

That about sums it up. Aspyr, who are handling the publishing of the game for home computers, have announced that the Mac version of Activision's bread-winner has gone gold, and will be shipping to retailers on December 10. The Mac version will include the PC version (it's a hybrid bundle), as well as allow cross-platform online play between Macs and PCs. Sadly, Mac fans, the bundle will not include a sleek, stylish and minimalist all-white guitar. Sorry.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Box Set

"Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Box Set" (Various Artists)

I've followed the GTA franchise since the original top down PC only version, and being a huge fan of 80s music, I've recently picked up a copy of the Vice City Box Set and ever since I've pretty much been listening to the dreamy sounds of Emotion 98.3 and Fever 105 non-stop since. I'm not going to bother getting into the sheer awesomeness of the game, rather I'm just going to mention some of the stand-out tracks that seem to be surviving repeated listening like I never thought possible. Right now in fact, Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "Two Tribes" is blearing out of the small Harmon Kardmon speakers attached to my colleagues computer. Amongst the many gems in this set are Kate Bush's "WOW", Flock Of Seagulls' "I Ran" and REO Speedwagon's "Keep On Loving You." I'm tellin you, it's wall to wall goodness. Toto, Air Supply, Mister Mister... The list goes on and on. Add to that the hilarious Disc Jockeys on each station, cracking jokes about CDs, Medallions and Cunnilingus.

Ween - La Cucaracha

Posted in by rob on Thu, 11/22/2007 - 11:35

Well, I shelled out around 35 clams to pre-order the new Ween album (paying a little extra for a sweet t-shirt) and I have to admit, the disturbed duo from New Hope have not disappointed. From the kitschy horns of the opening track "Fiesta" all the way through to the seductive sax of "Your Party", La Cucaracha is nothing less than the creative genius that Ween fans have come to expect. Trying to choose a favourite is a task that is beyond me, with there being but two tracks on the album that I don't love. "Blue Balloon" sets me off every time and I have too often found myself singing "Learnin' to Love" which I understand it the first single from the album. Rather than rattle off the rest of the tracks as being "standouts" I'll just wrap this up here.

I rate this one a definite 5 beans
